Talk Themes for March
March 7, 14, and 21 we continue in our 5-part series for LENT: If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat! Remembering that LENT is an acronym meaning Let Energy Now Transform, we are engaging fully in our miraculous, metaphorical, walk on water. We find this story in the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 14. But what does walking on water mean to each of us?
- Walking on water means facing your fears and choosing not to let fear have the last word.
- Walking on water means discovering and embracing the unique calling of God in your life.
- Walking on water means experiencing the power of God in your life to do something you
would not be capable of doing on your own.
Some questions we will ask and answer are WHAT is the boat? WHAT will the storm look like and WHAT does it represent?
Instead of a Lent of giving up stuff and being gloomy, we will be energized by experiencing the presence of God within us.
March 28 Palm Sunday "Is a man on a donkey a triumphant entry into a city?"
The entry of Jesus is a counter-demonstration, intentional and purposeful in contrast to the triumphant parade of Pontius Pilate, in imperial splendor, on the other side of town. We are naive if we do not think that Jesus knew exactly what he was doing. He was making a point. What point do you think he was making? And what does it mean to you?
Talk Themes for April
April 4 Easter Sunday "He is Risen!" Do the Facts Really Tell the Story?
Controversy continues over whether or not Jesus rose from the dead. Scholars analyze every aspect of the stories in Scripture and propound their theories. Theologians scrutinize the meaning of the theories. We the people ask ourselves the important question, "What does this have to do with me?" Easter was often an excuse for a new outfit, a brunch out with friends and family, a return (at last!) to whatever we had given up for Lent. And yet it is so much more. It is the very model for our own lives. It is why we celebrate more than just the facts.
April 11, 18, 25 and May 2 The Paradoxical Commandments
A paradox is a seeming contradiction, something that seems contrary to public opinion. There is the famous one, "No good deed goes unpunished." Huh? Good deeds are supposed to be rewarded, right? A paradox is something that seems to contradict common sense and yet is true. Somewhat like the phrase, "Feel the fear, and do it anyway" as you jump into the deep end of the pool to LEARN how to swim!
We all know the original Ten Commandments and they offer us solid truth with which to guide our lives, but here are Ten Commandments for the 21st century to help us find personal meaning in a crazy world.
Special Service on Good Friday
A communion and hands-on healing service will be held on Good Friday at 7:00 P.M. in the sanctuary. The theme for the lesson will be "In Light and Love" and a look at the "goodness" of Good Friday will be explored. Bread and grape juice will be shared and followed by a healing service of Laying on Hands by the minister. Come and be refreshed and uplifted in sharing God's Presence.

Meditative Prayer Sunday Service
Prayer is a core foundation of Unity. Having a time to go within to make and fortify our connection to the God within is as important as making prayer requests. We will have four prayer services during the year. The service will be created to raise our energy with song including the use of crystal bowls and various instruments. There will be a short message to give focus and inspiration, including time to sit in the silence. The Prayer Team may be part of the Meditative Prayer Services.
Dates of Service: May 30
Drumming Circle
Kate McCutchan will be holding a drumming circle in the church sanctuary on the last Sunday of each month.
We will meet a 12:30 and drum for an hour in the sanctuary. Bring your drums and noise-makers and join us for a love-offering circle of rhythm and joy.
Drumming is known to have therapeutic effects; more than that, it's just plain FUN!
If you don't have a drum, call Kate at 732-4814, as she does have several extra.
Next dates are March 28 and April 25.
